Panasonic recently revealed their two new Android tablets that could be the most durable and reliable tablets we’ve ever seen yet — the 10.1-inch Toughpad A1 and the 7-inch Toughpad B1. Tagged as a fearless new way to do business, the Toughpad is said to be ideal for mission-critical and highly mobile outdoor workers in markets likeaviation, field sales, the public sector, and construction.
The Panasonic Toughpad A1 packs a 10.1-inch XGA LED display (in 1024 x 768 pixels in a 4:3 form-factor) with multi-touch and digitizer daylight-readable (anti-glare) screen. Running the Android Honeycomb, the Toughpad A1 is powered by a 1.2-GHz dual-core processor and backed by 1GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage. It also includes 2MP front-facing camera and 5MP rear camera with auto-focus and LED light.
Meanwhile, the specs and other details of the 7-inch Panasonic Toughpad B1 weren’t revealed yet officially or unofficially. However, it’s expected to pack a little to the same specs of the A1; in other words, it’d be the cheaper version of the A1.
Moreover, both the Toughpad tablets are MIL-STD-810G rated, which means they could survive dust, water and drops. Or, it’s the kind of the expensive cases that most tablet owners buy.

The manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the Toughpad A1 starts at $1,299, which is ~Php55,000 when converted to Philippine Peso. No information regarding the price of the B1 was given but it’s expected to cost a little bit cheaper than the A1.
Nevertheless, this gives us the idea that it would cost around Php60,000 to Php70,000 (including taxes, etc.) as soon as it arrives here in the Philippines for the Toughpad A1.
The other deal breaker here is that, basing on the actual pics you see above, the Toughpad A1 has a disappointing built; in fact, it looks crappy especially its back-end right there.
The Toughpad A1 will be available in the spring of 2012, to be followed by the other variant in the later part of the said year. Both tablets will be sold by authorized Panasonic resellers all over the world.
No definite date for these tablets’ availability and pricing here in the Philippines.
