It’s official! The Philippines will be one of the first few countries to get the much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S III via the country’s top leading networks — Smart Communications and Globe Telecom. Both will begin accepting pre-orders of the Galaxy S3 on May 23, 2012.

SMART Galaxy S3

The Samsung Galaxy S III will be available from Smart bundled with Unli Data Plans that all come with unlimited mobile Internet, plus free SMS and call minutes. Although they haven’t specified which plans it will be free, we expect that it will come at these plans with no additional cost:

• Smart Unli Data Plan 3000
• Smart Unli Data Plan 4000
• Smart All-In Plan 3500

The device will also be available under Smart’s All-In Plans. Pre-orders will be accepted starting May 23, 2012.

GLOBE Galaxy S3

Globe subscribers can avail of the Samsung Galaxy S3 under My Super Plan Unli Surf Combo, which comes with unlimited mobile browsing, bonus call and text services, and choice of unli boosters for the ultimate smartphone experience.

The same with SMART, GLOBE didn’t likewise specify which plans it will come free but we expect it will be under these plans:

• Unli Surf Combo 3799
• My Super Plan 2499

Samsung recently unveiled its latest addition to its DUOS lineup — the Evan C3782. This feature phone runs on the latest non-touch edition of Samsung’s proprietary user interface.

The Evan C3782, which supports quad-band GSM/EDGE networks, packs a 2.4-inch QVGA display, a 3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, FM radio, a microSD card slot, a 3.5mm audio jack, and an optical trackpad. It comes with a 1000 mAh battery as well.

Russia and Ukraine markets are the first ones to get this phone with more countries to follow shortly. The Evan C3782 is expected to cost €110 or ~Php6,000 (contract-free).

With the launch of two new phones today, Nokia continues its mission to connect the next billion to the Internet. The Nokia 110 and Nokia 112 offer a young, urban audience the power to connect on social networks, get fast, inexpensive access to the Web, and keep themselves entertained with an exclusive bundle of 40 games from EA.

Both devices come with Nokia Browser, which reduces data consumption up to 90%, saving time and data costs. The phones offer direct access to Twitter, Facebook and other social networks from the home page. Email and Instant Messaging are also supported to keep the phones’ owners connected to their friends. The Nokia 112 also comes with the eBuddy instant messaging service preloaded.

There’s a VGA camera built in so you can capture the moment when you’re out and about. To keep your ears entertained, there’s an FM radio and a media player that can play both video and music. Both support MicroSD cards up to a capacity of 32GB for massive media storage.

Both phones also come with Dual SIM capability, with Nokia’s unique Easy Swap technology allowing for a fast switch without opening up the phone. The phone remembers personalisation details from up to five different SIM cards, so it’s easy to share without fuss or keep swapping so you get the maximum value from different operators. Single SIM varieties of the Nokia 110 – dubbed the Nokia 111 (which is also quad-band) and Nokia 113 – will also be available in some countries.

Before local taxes or operator subsidies the Nokia 110 will cost around €35 (~Php1,900), while the Nokia 112 will cost about €38 (~Php2,000). The Nokia 110 is expected to ship in Q2 2012 while the Nokia 112 will be available from the third quarter of this year.

Samsung recently announced a new smartphone, expanding its Windows Phone lineup with Omnia M, which features an enormous 4.0-inch Super AMOLED display and runs on the latest Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh.

The new Omnia M packs a 1GHz processor, 4GB of internal memory, a 5-megapixel autofocus camera, a front-facing VGA camera, and a 1500mAh battery. It also has a pretty good connectivity set like: 7.2Mbps HSDPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and A-GPS.

On the software front, Omnia M comes with Family Story, which is a new way to share content amongst family members, ChatON messaging service, AllShare, Smart DJ and Microsoft services like SkyDrive, Xbox etc.

The Samsung Omnia M rollout will start from Europe and will then continue to other regions. Exact launch dates weren’t mentioned, though. But we’re guessing it’ll be priced under $250.

Research In Motion unveils earlier its latest mid-range BlackBerry handset offering and newest member of its Curve line-up.
