BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9981 officially announced!

Research in Motion (RIM) and Porsche have officially announced a new luxury smartphone — the BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9981. This deluxe handset, which runs the new BlackBerry OS 7.0 with an exclusive Porsche Design user interface, is built from a forged stainless steel frame and has a sculpted QWERTY keyboard.

BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9981 specifications:

BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9981
DIMENSIONS 115 x 67 x 11.3 mm
DISPLAY 640 x 480 pixels, 2.8 inches (~286 ppi pixel density)
TFT capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors

CAMERA 5MP autofocus camera w/ LED flash
720p@30fps video recording
FEATURES 1.2GHz single-core processor; BlackBerry OS 7.0
BATTERY Standard battery, Li-Ion 1000 mAh

There’s nothing really special about the Porsche Design P’9981, specs-wise, except for that exclusive Porsche user interface. In fact, all of its specs are the same as the previous BlackBerry Bold 9900. The only difference is that, this device has slightly smaller screen size.

Obviously, they’re not selling the actual specs of the phone but the Porsche brand itself.

The Porsche Design P’9981 will be sold for a whopping $2,000, which is about Php86,000. Now that’s the deal breaker!

This limited-edition smartphone will be available as early as next month in all Porsche Design stores worldwide including the Philippines, perhaps?
