
On Tuesday in Jakarta, Research in Motion (RIM) announced two new BlackBerry smartphones: the first BlackBerry Curve smartphone to feature a touchscreen, the BlackBerry Curve 9380, and the cheapest BlackBerry Bold handset, the BlackBerry Bold 9790.
The Curve 9380 and Bold 970, which are both powered by the latest BlackBerry OS 7, are expected to arrive here in the Philippines in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, check out these phones’ respective photos and specifications or features after the jump!

Running the latest BlackBerry OS 7, the Curve 9380 features a 3.2-inch full capacitive touchscreen (without a hardware QWERTY keyboard), which is a first on the Curve lineup.
It packs basic specs of a regular Curve phone such as 512MB of built-in storage, 512MB of RAM, and a 806-MHz processor. It also includes 5MP rear camera with LED flash but doesn’t come up with a secondary camera, unfortunately.
The BlackBerry Curve 9380 is expected to be priced under Php20,000.

Aside from the Curve 9380, RIM also announced the new BlackBerry Bold 9790, which is the cheapest smartphone on the Bold lineup yet. It’s the usual touch-QWERTY Bold handset.
Also powered by BlackBerry OS 7, this smartphone sports 2.45-inch capacitive touchscreen display with QWERTY keyboard and optical trackpad, and comes up with 8GB of internal storage, 768MB of RAM and a 1-GHz single-core processor.
The Bold 9790 is expected to have a price ranging from Php22,000 to 26,000.
